Conference venue

The conference will take place at venerable Sundvolden Hotel, which has been a hotel and transport hub for 350 years and has among other things an intimate dining hall in a 1000 year old building (and a larger, comfortable main dining hall in the old wooden main building).

Sundvolden is located in the municipality of Hole, a few kilometers from the small city of Hønefoss. Conference attendees will be offered bus transport directly from Oslo airport Gardermoen to Sundvolden Hotel. This route is marked in blue in the schematic map below.

Sundvolden is on the shore of the inland fjord Tyrifjorden, and also marked  (green) on the map is a small island consisting entirely of an 18 hole golf course (Norwegian, "Golfbane").

The hotel is situated in a scenic, rural landscape overlooking the fjord, mountains, rolling hills, forests and agricultural landscape.

This particular view is from the lookout point called the King's View ("Kongens Utsikt") atop a hill within easy walking distance from the hotel, which can be reached by following a trail up the hill through the forest.

The hotel has a spacious conference hall with room for 650 people, and with sitting groups and exhibition space right outside for use between presentations and during coffee breaks.

There are several smaller meeting rooms (the board rooms) with a capacity for about 10-15 persons, as well as numerous sitting groups spread throughout the hotel available for small group sessions, social meetings, etc.

Sundvolden has its own baker and butcher, and the food is of renowned quality. There is also a well-stocked wine cellar with quality wines.

There is a top-quality restaurant at Sundvolden, serving food in two dining halls. The top picture shows a corner in the main restaurant, while the picture to the right shows the restaurant in the 1000-year old feast hall ("Gildehuset").

There are both single and double rooms (mostly with separate beds) and about 260 rooms all together accommodating more than 400 people.

The hotel has a swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and a top notch gym.
There is also a nice outdoor area with sitting groups for relaxation or discussions, with or without refreshments.
